Cheng-doodle-doo

What’s happening in the world of Chengdu? Well, my belly is getting bigger from eating way too much food. I blame it on Justin, a student from last semester who has come back for a few weeks. We usually order at least one extra dish for lunch and dinner. All that food has to go somewhere.

I didn’t realise until last Friday that there is something either in the water or in the tea here. Before last Friday, I hadn’t spent much time in tea houses here. That day, we sat outside drinking Chinese tea all afternoon before having a game of Mah-jong. At this stage, I think the tea had gone to our heads and we were all as high as kites!! Made Mah-jong all the more fun! I do like the tea culture here. It’s like pub culture at home. People go to meet their friends and while away the hours.

Last Thursday, we all went on a school tour (yippee) to an old town called Luo Dai (洛带) and the fake Great Wall of Chengdu. It was good to get out of the city. The old town was a bit touristy, as old towns usually are. The great wall, however, was really enjoyable. It was free in and the countryside around it was quite nice – and green! ‘Twas a nice trip to the country – we got to breathe some fresh air and stretch our legs.

PS: to the Anonymous leaver of a comment on my last post - a name might be useful, so I can know who yo are!
