For years, I struggled with a Polar heart rate monitor. i’d have to wet the strap, typically wait up to 20 minutes for it to “warm up” and detect a symbol, and endure constant signal “drop outs” making large gaps in my training data. Eventually, i’d had enough, and set to undertake this specific Suunto t3d Heart Rate Monitor because it had been on sale at REI. i have been using it for 3 months currently and i am extremely happy.
First, the watch appearance really nice. it’s totally slim and does not scream “training pc,” therefore it’s undoubtedly appropriate to wear at the office, while traveling, or just about anywhere while not searching of place.
When you put the heart rate strap on, the signal is picked up immediately. i have not had to dampen the electrodes or sit up for it to heat up; you just put the strap on, flip the watch to training mode and you are sensible to go. The signal is extremely solid; you’ll be able to do just about any physical activity in this thing despite what proportion it contorts your torso and therefore the watch can still pick up your heart rate no problem.
The interface is admittedly a trifle confusing, but with some follow you’ll get used to it. Recalling data is straightforward, there is multiple time zone support, stopwatch… just about each basic operate you’d expect. The calories burned operate is, as way as I will tell, very accurate after you subtract the calories you would have burned sitting still.
As way as cons go, there are very few. The battery life is good, though not pretty much as good as on my Polar (I had to replace the t3ds battery after about 3 months of serious, near-daily use). Others have complained that the screen is troublesome to scan, though personally I even have no problems.
Over-all, if you’re looking to pay but two hundred bucks and find an especially reliable heart rate monitor, this can be your watch.
